84 hrs living in lunai’s apartment.

84 hours= 3⅟₂ days (02-05 feb 08)

Yea that’s the approximate time I stayed here with my cuzzie, Elizabeth Lunai Laing. (full name) haha

Still here that’s why can online. Back at my place in UKM, sorry naik lori la mauk online! No FREE wireless at my kolej. Have to go to the library to online and that’s such a hussle.

Anyways, my 1st day here was spent at Sunway Pyramid. It’s about 15 minutes walk from cuzzy’s apartment. Over there, there’s this Lost World of Tambun,Perak promotion/exhibition happening at the ground floor. It’s a new park some sort of zoo over there I think. They actually brought some animals such as a white parrot, a pair of tortoise, a ferret and a white-yellowish python..

Cuzzy started taking all the pictures of the animals. They offered picture taking with the snake for rm5 using your own camera. Cuzzy wanted to do it but was scared. So we left and headed upstairs to Asian Avenue. But but but cuzzy was not at ease! She said she NEEDS to take picture with that snake! It’s one of her what-to-do lists before getting married..haha

So we turun lagi lah. But still cuzzy was scared..haiyoo..so I decided to take picture with the snake 1st.

I was not really scared that time (not as scared as cuzzy!haha) but when the person pun the snake around me, and it’s soft feeling around my neck, I had this uneasy feeling and I started imagining weird and scary stuffs.Lol

Dscn0804

But, I’m convinced that the snake will not do any harm despite it moving around slithering across my neck because since it’s treated like a pet already, so why worry?; I thought.

Then it’s cuzzy’s turn. Man, was she nervous. But she managed and she had this spark of victory on her face for overcoming her fear over that cute-‘not’ harmful snake.Haha

Then we met up with Madey and Teddy who just got back from playing at the Sunway Lagoon theme park and headed to Sakae for an early dinner.

Dscn0808

We had sushi and that’s the first time I tried that place and it’s not bad. There are some plates which are cheap and worth eating. After that, went to J.Co Donuts to tapau some of the doughnuts which are very very soft and mouth-watering and chocolaty and…the list goes on and on..

The rest of the days are spent in the room, surfing and browsing for stuffs I need after the CNY holiday.

Okay..this is the interesting part..

SECOND day..

Today we planned to go to Times Square and Sg. Wang.

Yesterday we talked about piercings and how Cuzzy wanted her tongue pierced and mine, belly piercing.

We both have wanted this for so long, both since around form4 or 5. Then thought of doing it while we were in matriculation but yet didn’t do it until now. So we (actually me =P) came up with this Brilliant idea, why don’t we go tomorrow (as in today since we were talking about it yesterday) and do it together? Since we both want to do it and it’s better to have another close person to you to share that ‘glorious’ moment with you. Haha

So, yes, we decided to go for it and there’s no turning back.

At first, we thought of doing the piercings first before window shopping but came to think of it we will feel uneasy with new piercings on and keep on pacing around. So we went to Times Square first as Cuzzy wanted to go to the ‘all rm10 clothes’ which is Silver Trend on the 4th floor.

I Planned to window shop only and just teman her. But being a girl and not shop is such an agony to the mind. LOL

So since my temptation is TOO strong to resist, I bought a dark blue dress for myself which cost rm10 only. I was thinking about my ‘old school’ days where finding a cheap dress is very difficult. Back to the dress, it has this some kind of strands of ribbon behind which are pleated and I think it looks nice and unique. Cuzzy bought one dress for her too.

After that, we walked to Sg. Wang and sheesh, there were A LOT AND LOTS of people. People are queuing up just to go inside and as well outside from the Giant entrance at the side. Somewhere somehow we managed to go inside and I thought it’s over.. but it’s not! The inside was even worst! My expression went like this .. -_-“

So we started looking for any piercing shops in Sg. Wang. Cuzzy told me a friend of hers told her there’s a number of them there. We saw the 1st one but it’s only a stall with this gothic kind of style girl sitting down there waiting for customers. She told us for belly piercing is rm90 and tongue is rm120. But we were not convinced by her because she’s not friendly at all! And it’s a stall and imagine us doing our piercings in front of everybody else..

Another one was a shop. But I forgot the name. and the price too because we didn’t asked him details which we were supposed to do.

Then we headed upstairs. Btw that stall was at the ground floor. We took one of the leaflets which was the directory and found a few tattoo shops. We tried our luck in every shop possible because usually a tattoo shop has that piercing service also. The 1st one was Zoo Body Art and it was this young guy, I think he’s in his middle 20-s by the name of Wong; he’s one of the piercer. He told us for belly is rm100 and tongue is rm120. While he was talking to us it was hard for me to look directly in his eyes as my eyes kept wandering off to his piercings all across the face! The one I remembered the most is at the nose bridge; the one between his eyes.

It’s kind of cool but he’s not the type that I would bring home and meet my parents. Hahaha If yes pun, surely kena buang rumah already. LOL

Then we went to another shop; Spec Body Art where this big tall guy by the name Ronny told us every details about piercings. He really knows how to make you trust him. He actually showed us his nipple piercing and we were like leaning forward to have a good look at it but he quickly pulled down his t-shirt back. Hihihih

We went out of that shop and went to another shop. Dragon something2. I forgot the name but the girl said they don’t do piercings there. So we Cuzzy decided to go to Ronny’s but I was still undecided. It’s either Ronny’s or Wong’s. I trust Ronny more but Wong’s rm20 cheaper. You know you can do a lot with rm20..=P

Anyways, we headed back down to Kyro’s Kebab and had another early dinner since Ronny asked Cuzzy to eat something 1st before piercing the tongue. Then withdraw some money and went back to Ronny’s to do Cuzzy’s tongue.

I went behind the curtain with cuzzy and watched the process of the piercing. Ronny showed us all the sterilized tools they used and I didn’t actually see him poking in the needle through cuzzy’s tongue because I was nervous myself! It’s kind of gross..hehe

Then that’s done with cuzzy’s tears coming out a bit as it hurts. She said it’s like when you accidentally bit your tongue. So I made a last minute decision to do mine at Ronny’s. I rather spent the rm20 on somebody that I trust than somebody that I don’t.

So came my turn..Ronny marked the place to pierce and asked me to lie down..Man, my heart was racing that time.. I had a mixture of feelings..Nervous and excited at the same time..

Dscn0846

Dscn0847

And this Ronny kept on telling me his steps by steps on doing the piercing.. in my mind was like, aiya..just do it la!no need to tell me! You’re making me scared lah!”

Dscn0848

When he actually pierced the needle through my skin it HURTS mind you.. but after that, I opened my eyes, and walla! A new piercing! Hoho

Dscn0849

So to make it short we went back after that and both of us had this uneasy feeling because it’s new and you know, it’s like in a blink of an eye, poof! You have something added to your body.

So there goes.. I achieved the one of my to-do-list before I die. It’s such a great feeling when I succeeded  in achieving the things in the list. Plus I’ve wanted this for so so long and I got it at an unpredictable moment. We went back bringing back that new confident in us and the feeling of being proud at ourselves (pat self at the back).

Now I need to concentrate on the aftercare and healing process. Ronny told me that belly piercing needs time to heal. It takes about 6 months to heal as we move evrytime and in order for us to move, our tummy moves also and that means strict routines of soaking it in warm salt water after taking bath EVERYTIME and no swimming in the swimming pool for A MONTH (the chlorinated water is not good for the wound) but I can go to the beach and ber-rendam in the sea for as much as I want as that will quickens the healing process and I need to make sure my belly is clean and dry all the time. I cant touch the piercing with my bare hands because hands contain bacteria and germs.  If I want to, I need to clean and wash my hands 1st. I’m trying not to move a lot this week and since it’s a holiday I think I’ll manage.

So that’s it. I don’t post blog that often as I don’t have the chance to online 24hrs. but I’ll try and keep up with anything interesting happening in my daily life. Thank you for reading my blog to whomever you are. I appreciate you spending some time to read my posts. So see you in the next blog! =)

Say welcome to a new me.

“Your n70 cannot be repaired” said 4 technicians..Is that the end of it?

Okay, firstly I’ll show you pictures of my n70. Here they are…

~~~ i'll put the pictures later.sorry for the inconveniences.Hihi ~~~
That n70 was bought in March 2007 and was given to me by my dearest pumpkin, Will. He actually went through all the troubles so that we both have the same exact phone. Well, except his was the music edition. Notice that I used past tense? Yes, he actually traded-in his beautiful black n70 with a second-hand n91 communicator (if I’m not mistaken) somewhere in October the same year.
At that time, I was like, “Are you out of your mind??” but he said he likes the communicator so I tried to be in his shoes by hoping that I will understand his strong temptation to trade-in a first hand to a second-hand.
At last, I let him change it to the communicator and he beamed with joy. Haha So I thought now we don’t have the same phone again..hiya..
Anyways, let’s get back to My n70..
That n70 really came in handy for me. It like worked 3-in-1 for me.  SMSes, Pictures, Calls. Well, some other functions too but those three were the most I did with the phone.
I still have my old nokia 3350 phone so I’ve decided to buy a maxis number since most of my friends in UKM are using maxis. Before having that Maxis number, I spent a LOT on my other Digi number. *dead*
One fateful day, I realized that the n70 didn’t have network despite me using Maxis since Maxis line is very strong over there. So after a month of using it as a camera only (since I cannot make any calls or SMSes) I decided to bring it to a phone repair shop in UKM.
After a few days, the technician told me he cannot repair it. Even though he changed the something inside (I forgot what it is called, it’s something to make the phone receives network) , still it didn’t worked.
I was disappointed. .
Let’s go straight to the 2nd technician. Will and I went to Pertama Complex opposite Sogo in KL and the technician said the same thing. He also said we need to pay higher if we really want him to repair the phone. So we said no, and I think that was the time when he go and totally rosak-kan my phone(the thing inside) because we refused to repair it. But we were helpless because he’s the one who knows and we know nothing.
I almost cried at that moment. I had a mixture of feelings. Disappointed, guilty, frustrated..
Will decided to send the n70 to a shop at his place in Batang Berjuntai. He told me he went there few times already so the technician knows him. Oh well, sadly enough, the technician SAID the same thing too. He told Will that the interior was badly damaged. He said it’s weird because it’s a 1st hand phone and the inside is already that bad?
Now I’m really frustrated and started to give up..
Will asked me to bring it back to Miri and asked Mum’s friend to help.
So I did follow his advice and brought it to Jeremy’s Mobile Repair at Bintang Plaza. This was the 4th technician and the last.. The technician told me he CAN repair it but it will be too expensive and not worth it. He said it’ll be around RM400 plus. It’s better to buy a new phone..
Feels like my heart kena cucok2 right there..
As things started to get worst, I cannot think of anything worse but it did happened.. Mum had to pay RM10 for the service charge!!!! OMG! Why are they charging us when they DID NOTHING to the phone! NOTHING AT ALL!! The technician practically opened the parts and put it back together. Only 2 VERY simple things and he got paid for that! How wonderful!(sarcastically) DEYM!
So that’s the end of it. I cannot repair it. Nothing can be done to my precious n70. I haven’t even used it for a year and I (well, not totally me) ruined it.. poor n70.. poor Will.. The guiltiness evade my brain.. sheesh.. I’ll have to live with this for a long time..
I’m so totally dead. Period.
The day we got back
At last final’s over. I was very very glad because it’s a holiday! Yayy!
Our flight from LCCT was at 4.20pm,24/11/2007(which turns out to be Olly’s bday). Patty, Lunai and I went back together that  day. From the flight, as we reached Miri, I can see the city lights all over which made me more excited to go back home. I was looking forward to see our new puppies!!
Lunai’s mum,Auntie Mujan fetched us from the airport. As soon as we reached home, there were a lot of cars parking at the roadside. Mum told us that we will be having Olly’s birthday party that night too.
Suddenly, Patty realized there’s a not-ours car parking at our car porch. It’s a Gen2 ,red in color. We were wondering whose is that and thought it’s our new car! Apa lagik..makin excited la..
But our hopes crumbled as Auntie Mujan told us that Daddy’s company gave him. Hehe
Oh well, never mind.
Then Dad, Mum, Olly, and Aaron greeted us at the main door. I was so surprised to see Aaron! He has grown up so much I can’t believe it’s him! Haha
He’s chubbier now and taller and one thing that ‘attracts’ me the most is the butt! It’s very round and solid..hahahaha In another word, ‘MANTAP’ LOL
There were few uncles and aunties that night. Friends of dad’s and mum’s. Weird though. It’s supposed to be Olly’s birthday party but only ONE of Olly’s friend was there. Hmmmpph?? But Olly said never mind. Hee
That night I melepas mengidam by eating my Mum’s special dish. We call it beef pie but it’s actually not a pie. It has three layers. The bottom layer is the minced beef which is cooked with soy sauce. And the middle part is the mashed potatoes. The top part makes the dish more delicious which is melted cheese!
I think I ate half of the plate Mum served. Hihihi
One of dad’s friend brought his karaoke set so after connecting wires and testing the microphone, it’s my turn to sing. I was very happy because I found Gloria Gaynor’s “I will survive” in the songs' list. I’ve been to various karaoke places with Madey and Cyril but cannot find that song!
So, as I excited as I can be I started singing the song..nevertheless, I sang badly! I was out of tune and cannot stop laughing through the song as the others laughed at me too! haha. I totally sucked! At the end of the song, the marks are counted and I only scored 42! Lol
Well, spent the rest of the nights karaoke-ing. Aaron even sang his Favorite song which is “Achy breaky heart”. I didn’t expect him to like karaoke. (it’s in the genes I guess.hehe)
So that’s it. My 1st night in Miri after ‘hibernating’ for 4 months in my small isolated UKM room. I am looking forward to the days ahead because I’m enjoying the moment. Yea I guess Miri is not that bad after all despite the very hot and humid weather. Furthermore, as the saying goes, “there’s no other places better than home.”  =)
Here are some pictures during the night.
An identity (race) crisis??? (Part 2)
When I 1st attended our 1st ko-k meeting, I discovered that there’s an Indonesian guy in the same contemporary dance class and after a week, he approached me and told me that he was relieved when he saw me the 1st week. He said “At least I have an Indonesian with me in the class” He thought I was an Indonesian! He said he mati2 thought I’m from there because I don’t look like locals here. Another wrong assumption on my real background! =)
That one particular day during EST class, my classmate asked me to say something in Kayan. So I said “uh nah ikak kuman do?” which means “have u already eaten?” he was like “wwahh.. sounds so different!” my lecturer overheard us and asked me to repeat the sentence again. She told me that the bahasa ada bunyi2 Philippine. So she thought I’m from Philippine. There goes another assumption..the 4th one I think..
And this happened just recently.. I was in my room doing some work that night and my neighbour which stay a door away knocked on my door and asked whether my roommate is in the room or not. I told her that she’s(roommate) not back yet. So she said nvm. And as I was closing the door she stopped me and asked what am I actually.. she goes like this.. “ urmm u ape sbnrnye? Chinese ke? Ouh u Chinese-Siam eh?” terkejut me dgr at that time.. almost speechless.. hahah I can just say yes to her but no.. told her I’m a Sarawakian. That’s all. If I go into the details, who knows what she’ll be thinking. So by saying I’m a Sarawakian is more than enough.
Lastly, this just happened last Wednesday. It was the annual election for the whole IPTA and we students are required to vote for the candidates. In my own opinion, the election held is not fair. IPTA students should know why it is not fair.. Btw, I walked into the election room, I need to register myself at the 1st counter where I need to give them my matrix card to check my name on the computer. They said my name out aloud to confirm with me.. and one of them asked me, “Jeannette Urai Daniel...U Portuguese eh??” hahahahah won’t comment more on this one. =P
So get a picture here? Ppl here are not used seeing our looks (srwkian & sbhan) here and they’ll come up with their own assumptions but normally, they will think us as Chinese or Malay (free hair). Well, this might not apply to all of the East Malaysians but I’m blogging based on my own experiences.
Ni baru confuse abt race..blom lagi crita ttg what’s their view abt srwak n sabah..lagi ‘imaginative’.. but that one, I’ll keep it to myself. Feel free to ask me though. I’m not thinking of putting it in my blog at d moment.. well,maybe not yet..ngehngeh
So the best way to describe myself??
A MALAYSIAN =)
Lucky to be one!
An identity (race) crisis??? (Part 1)
Currently, I’m studying in UKM ,Bangi doing a course called chemical science or its popular name, pure chemistry. When I started my 2nd week here, I met different types of people from all over
Malaysia
. Most of the West Malaysians are from Johor and Selangor. There are some who come all d way from Kedah n
Penang
too.
Ever wonder what happened during my 1st week? Oh well, I was not able to go out and ‘socialize’ around when all the 1st year students were doing that(it was the orientation week.1st week is always meant for that). I was quarantined the whole week in my room because of the conjunctivitis I got during my very 1st day in UKM. Sad.. And I was BORED(very!) too! No one to talk to. Got nothing to do. No entertainment. Everyone was a stranger to me..
I remembered my 1st encounter with a Kuching guy who has been introduced by a friend of mine ,Madey. Little did I knew we end up being good friends. His name is Cyril. We actually went out on a Wednesday night (2nd week I guess) to Putrajaya for sight-seeing and came back around 4 in the morning and I have an 8am class that morning! Just imagine how my eyes hurt in class. You know when you don’t have enough sleep, your eyes will feel pedih semcm..hehe
That weekend, he(Cyril) introduced me to 2 of his fac-mates.. Both from Johor. A girl and a guy. We got along well despite my imperfect Semenanjung slang.. my ‘bah’ will tend to come out after my sentences and everything will sound wrong. Funny I can say. =P but yea, I’m working on it. =)
The guy asked me what race am I actually. When I said I’m a Kayan, they had that weird expressions on their faces.. As I had expected, they didn’t have any ideas on my race. I bluntly asked, “It came out somewhere in the Sejarah book last time
kan
??”
They gave me their blank looks but I know, they were trying hard to make flashback in their heads but can’t seem to remember it. The guy told me that I have that unique look from
Thailand
. Not a Malaysian. -_-“
The girl agreed. So I’m like ookayy..
So much of my 2nd week..
Then came the 3rd week..
I was walking around Pusanika with Madey when we came across a booth with students looking for people to become the committees for UKM’s Pesta Tanglung which was held recently. ( last week if I’m not mistaken) Two girls came to us and straight away spoke Mandarin to us.. I was like eerrr???
Coincidentally, Madey has a Chinese look too.(Got it from his mom) and LUCKILY he is able to speak Mandarin since he attended Chinese primary school. But the two girls stopped for a while when they looked at his name tag. Mahathir bin Yusup ?? They were reluctant after that so we said we are not interested (in fact we ARE not interested). So know I have met people who thought I’m a Chinese..
To be continued…….
